PHASE: complete
The design of this 3200 sf private home feeds off the energy and vibrancy of the Zilker neighborhood in South Austin. Bold colors and sharp lines define the spaces, while an abundance of windows and large doors connect the occupants to the outdoors.
The first floor is a more traditional floor plan, with the kitchen segregated from the living room, with a separate wetbar for intimate gatherings. The living room opens up to a large covered patio that contains an outdoor, double sided fireplace. Large windows in the stairwell feed plenty of natural light through a custom steel screen wall into the dining room below.
A large master suite resides on the 2nd floor with a uniquely vaulted ceiling, and a spa like bathroom that transports its inhabitants far away from the busy city life.
Two smaller bedrooms share the 2nd floor with the master, while a fourth bedroom is tucked into a finished attic along with a large, open playroom.
The interiors strike a balance between modern, traditional and whimsical, with a style that straddles both the Texas/Mexico border, as well as crosses the ocean with Scandinavian sensibilities - a trait commonly associated with a DMA designed home.
