normandy:
Tucked into the eclectic landscape of South Austin, the Normandy Residence blends Desert Southwest influences with bold, modern design. Its most defining feature is the faceted wallsl, clad in weathered steel, creating a dynamic, sculptural presence that changes with the light. Above the foyer, a playful hammock room is suspended like a floating retreat.
The heart of the home is the kitchen, where a massive terracotta wall adds warmth and texture, grounding the space in an earthy, organic palette. The materiality continues throughout, with the natural, handmade, yet refined aesthetic.
In the primary bath, nature takes center stage. A built-in planter within the shower overflows with lush palms and monsteras, transforming daily routines into an immersive, tropical escape. The space is designed to be both functional and experiential, embracing the interplay of architecture and landscape.
Throughout, thoughtful details and unexpected moments create a home that is as playful as it is sophisticated.
This house is currently nominated for “Best Full Bath” and “Best Specialty Room” (the Hammock Room) by Austin Home Magazine (2025).
